Shashnia was subject to quite a few meteor showers in the past. There still exist remnants of this in the form of circular patterns inland, in the sea and as islands. Crater islands are a peculiar formation because they can be below sea level on the interior, but are dry due to the high bowl that surrounds it. The high bowl often has shear sides on the outer rim, making the interior of the islands incredibly isolated. This has given rise to some unique species and cultures contained within. Their only contact is through the sky, the algae farmers and the sky rovers, not all of which are fond of touching down in them.
