"Hallo Friend! Might I be your guide and help you walk these endless rows of information".
Wiki Basics
What is a wiki?
Getting around: Browse through the links contained in each document to see context-related pages. There are also a number of tabs at the top of the page that can help you with the logistics of the wiki system, like logging in, account settings, etc.
- SideBar is useful! yay. Most often referenced pages and the chat window live there.
- Need more screen space? Click that tiny little darkened triangle at the top right of this window, right above where is says Page History. That will hide/show the SideBar to give you extra reading room.
- Tags are keywords at the bottom of every document.
- Linkers from within the document to another.
- Search using simple terms, it counts adjacent words as if they were bounded by quotations.
There is no longer a method for determining a dead link. You get points for fixing these links or creating something to go there. Flag these with an icon manually?
Wiki Editing
There is a WYSIWYG editor for this wiki, however it is important to remember TWO things:
- Not everyone has the same browser or even screen dimensions, so design things as fluidly as possible. That is, if you change the size of your browser window does it mess up all your carefully arranged spaces?
- As much as some designers eschew them, tables are a quick way to achieve formatting here.
- It is using HTML in the background, so click the <>Source button to edit things in html, css or java to fix inconsistencies with what you are trying to achieve
Formatting
Italics will refer to in game writing, character speech etc.
Out of character vs In Character
Linking
External website links need to be manually distinguished as well. Hover over the link to see where it goes, external links should by habit always open in a new window. Use the "lifepodspace_icon.jpg" shrunk to the text line size to denote an external linker
Attribution
If they are not your works, they MUST be attributed. Please link to the original source if you can, and this can include your works to help with promotion. If they are copyright externally to this project in anyway that must be shown on the attribution page you are linking to, or preferably, on the page(s) where you have embedded that content.
Adventure time!
Start walking through the Library in a simulation of phyiscal sense to find topics that way, like the Dewey decimal system! (in development)
From the first hall in the library you can choose one of three doors.
_ Door A - old somewhat important books
/
/\ Door BC - lots of older important books, also a huge inner gallery!
\/
\_ Door D - really old books, you better be someone special coming this way
This is a traditional layout for formal building entranceway in the Shashnimyn style. It reflects a theme of recurring geometry: 0 1 2 3 6
