The Techno Dungeon

Players encounter an abandoned underground complex which was constructed with ancient technology. The workings of the dungeon are all powered by magics long-forgotten (it arose during the magic age).

the dungeon can have traps and puzzles that are all powered mysteriously. there is generally some useful treasure in these dungeons. Some of the artifacts are salvagable. These artifacts have technology like one would expect from a space-age society (laser guns and things like that). they have to be activated and sustained by a large magic reserve. They were originally created during a time of higher latent magic than the present so they are not as efficient.

Reverse engineering these artifacts is difficult but not impossible. some can be added to existing devices. eg, turning a beam sword/ranged slash into a weapon arm on an exoskeleton.

a common quest in these dungeons (besides crawling for treasure and monster kills) is to discover what it's original purpose was. There is an archaeologist code that is recommended to be followed.

  1. Do not remove anything that is connected, or was supposed to be connected to the superstructure.
  2. Leave things intact as much as possible. Try not to cause uneeded harm to the surroundings (usually caused by violent/chaotic spells)
