the intergalatic jump

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 2 months ago

after the edges of the galaxy was reached, there was not a technology which could make the jump to the next galaxies. by this point, the Shashnimyn had scouts in all the systems. The race had died on many planets, it was an age of stagnation. Some powerful individuals could jump about at will, acting comparable to gods in our eyes. Other worlds had descended into chaos, been destroyed or reverted to primitive subsistence.

Still the Earth had not been found. They knew it must exist for they had not forgotten the humans, and their dreams of them grew stronger.

According to the astronomical records from the humans, the starscape visible from Earth they were within the same galaxy, they had even found the place in space where it was expected to be. but there was no Earth habitable there, a minor variation in the orbit caused the entire system to have been rather unremarkable.

The efforts to breach galaxies turned to magics of time space. Enormous rituals that took the concert of many nations, cast from a planet. Fittingly, the gravitational harmonies of large objects in space were used to create very precise spells. However, the effects of these spells were very chaotic to balance. It was thought that with the right intention, these would send vessels into other galaxies. As magic tends to be, there was as much failure as success.

the shashnimyn who had crashed on Earth journeyed around the world, taking astronomical measurements. many of the stone structures and measurements they took were carefully guarded and mantained by tribes after.

they were using stone magic and a lot of patience (the course of years of observation) to assess the movements of the stars. It took a while for them to discover where in the universe they were. Once that was established, they convened to discuss the most auspicious places to build their time travel events.

they were kind to the humans. if they were attacked, they simply moved on without retaliating. if they were approached, they would speak with those who listened. a few humans became devoted to them and learned much over the years. these people were respected and perpetuated in some cultures.

they never expected these structures to last, they weren't involved with any of the pyramids that still persist.
