Underground Fauna
Monsters
lindworm
- a huge worm that is at least a kilometer long, fills tunnels and slowly eats rock. impervious to the termita, they just dig new tunnels above, below, around.
moss crabs.
- small hermit crabs covered in moss. move around to find puddles and glowing areas to use their symbiotic growth abilities. some can get a metre across, only dangerous if attacked. good food if properly cooked, afraid of termita who eat them, and fire (which is forbidden to most myn). attracted to light, and can mob PCs but don't bite.
mushroom crabs.
- bigger cousins of moss crabs, have claws and a tangle of mushrooms on their backs. can defend themselves against termita and myn, especially when they travel in larger numbers. usually run if solitary, but are not threatened when their groups are larger than the myns. those with white mushrooms look for detritus to camp out in. they burrow into the mud, and capture it in the crevices of the shells to grow the mushrooms, very stinky. the second type, which is bigger still, has black and purple mushrooms. these are carrion eaters, even more stinky, smell of rotting flesh (basic perception). they are potentially dangerous. considered a delicacy to the termita
cave wumps/wombats,
- eat moss, luminscent mushrooms. passive herbivores.
tusked wumps/wombats.
- bigger omnivorous cousins.
double tusked wumps,
- bison sized, eat everything, very territorial. run away.
triple tusked (more like antlers interwoven).
- old and grey, wise if you can understand them.
white bats.
crystal bats.
- they glow when you hold them, but can bite.
red bats.
earwigs, centipedes, scarab beetles, stingless scorpions, weak whip scorpions, 4 claw scorpions
grey goo, green jelly, gelatinous fields (unfinished cubes)
Tonkins.
- small bands of cave dog-monkeys. agressive, 6 arms, stupid, but use sharp sticks and stones. ambush using stone traps. no match for Termita. predated by cave civets
cave civets,
- small predatory cats that can see in the dark. moderately intelligent, understandable if you speak cat well. don't like humanoids, typically only attack if cornered. sometimes will make their presence known if they want to talk, usually for fatty foods, absolutely love avocadoes.

skeleton bats,
giant water bear,
- tardigrade. harmless, follow them to wumps.
giant springtails.
- clean the walls, annoying, can be battered/stunned if you scare up a bunch of them. lie down to avoid that.
nasty weevils.
- pig sized weevils that drink animal fluids, from wumps/wombats, crabs. don't attack things that are dangerous (kobolds, civets, centipedes, etc). their aggressive display is very frightening, but they are not as dangerous as they pretend to be. brightly coloured, red black yellow, glows menacingly when angry.
cave stomper.
- 6 legged spider crustacean. tromps through tunnels and then scrapes up the leftovers. heavily armoured in the front, tender in the rear.
